ABOUT VOLUNTEERING

CASA of Scott County Logo
Court-appointed special advocate (CASA) volunteers advocate for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect.

CASA volunteers speak up for abused and neglected children in our community. Our volunteers work with child welfare professionals, educators, and service providers to ensure that judges have the information they need to make the most well-informed decisions for each child.

FATHER AND CHILD

Robert L. - Parent of a Child in our Program

CASA is an important part in my case. Not only have they kept my son's best interest in mind, but they saw a man who had never been a father beforehand had a terrible background, and gave me a chance. They didn't just see who I used to be, and decide that I was no good,  but instead they let me show them that this was who I wanted to be. A father.

WHAT DOES A VOLUNTEER DO?

Every case is a little different, but all our volunteers visit their appointed child once per month. And don't worry, we provide training and support for every volunteer!

Traditional Volunteers in our program regularly communicate with DCS, Foster Parents, the child's therapist, school administration, and other service providers. They attend team meetings, write court reports, and attend all court hearings. Having a volunteer to connect all these dots ensures that the child's best interests are always represented, no matter the situation.

We also have a Liason Volunteer position for volunteers who are working full-time.

It's not difficult work - our computer system helps with documentation and organization, and our volunteer coordinator is available to help whenever needed! But we cannot be everywhere at once, and rely on our volunteers to be present for each child during their time of need. Please consider applying to volunteer today!
